Diminish me

I never can forget
The day you went away
Those last few words you said to me
Tears streaming down your face

You said you needed time
You said you needed space
You told me that you loved me
You told me that your mine

It seems so long ago
Since those haunting words were said
But still your essence lingers
Like a nightmare in my head

I see you now
Through these tarnished eyes
The lies surrounding you
Like rose colored skies

You are not coming back
And I know you never will
For one last chance to hold you
There’s no one
I won’t kill

I would clime the highest mountain
Ascend and the greatest peak
Just one more chance with you
Is all I ever seek?
But the sands of time diminish me
Passions greatest crime
You moved on with your life
I’m still rebuilding mine
