Die for You

You stroke my arm
And you whisper in my ear
“I love you” is what you say
As we lay together, all alone
For so long I believed you
That our love was genuine

What was I thinking?
Trusting you when you said
You were just out with the guys
So many nights a week
Coming back smelling of perfume
How stupid could I be?

I just pushed away the idea
That you could be disloyal
I was your one and only
Wasn’t I?
There wasn’t anyone else
Was there?

And yet when I learned
Of your deceitful ways
I realized that even now
While you’re no man of mine
That I’d still bleed for you
That I would still die for you
