Denial

How can someone be so heartbroken
Over something they never had
How can someone survive
Without a trace of being sad

It's funny how someone
Can smile and fake laugh through their day
Yet once they hear a lost love's name
They come apart, never again being okay

Then comes the tough part
"Getting Over Him"
But once that someone tries to
Things like understanding begin to get dim

So many emotions
Pressed into one mind
Looking for love
A rather hard thing to find

So you stop looking
Hoping it will come to you
But soon you realize
All those saying about love aren't love

So You start looking again
Sometimes settling for the "i-think-it's-the-one"
And this one hurts you too
Finally you can't take it, you say "I'm Done."

But soon you understand
The one you truly loved is gone
You've been in denial
Pretending you've moved on

You send him messages
Hoping next time, he'll reply
You cling to the thought
Pretending it's not just another lie

You still live your life
And pretend to be okay
But the broken-heart
Gets worse each and every day...
