Chance
I was sixteen and you were twenty-two.
We met at a bowling ally one cold november night.
We saw a movie in an old movie theater after;
I fell asleep on your shoulder halfway through.
My heart sped up and my knees went weak,
When you bent down to kiss me.
Later you tell me it's a joke,
That we can never be together.
The age was too great,
It'll never work, you told me.
My heart broke to pieces,
I cried tears for you.
Every day I held my breath for you.
I found a girl who loved me,
and I fell in love with her.
My heart sped up for her,
And my knees went weak.
You came crawling back on all fours,
wanting me in your arms.
You had your chance,
You blew it.
I have a girlfriend,
your out of lucky.
I'm sorry,
You had your chance.
