Broken Love

I begin this day with a walk through the park
Its early morning with the dew in the grass, glistening
It’s still a little dark,
As I continue walking I am listening.

I hear the kids saying and playing
I hear my heart beating, and slowly breaking
I think to myself, why aren’t I praying?
As my legs and my heart begin aching

I stop walking as my knees grow weak
My eyes begin to hurt, and become all red
It hurt’s so bad…I can’t speak
I never had listened to what he had said

He had told me he loved me,
But I was to young and foolish and dumb
I wanted to flee, wanted to be free
I didn’t want to feel this broken love…it made me numb.
