A Fire Inside

Standing outside the fire, he watched.
Frenzied teachers did a head count.
It was a flame fueled by desire.
The desire to hurt, as he'd been.

He watched her, everything she did.
Where ever she went, he did too.
But ever so cunningly he hid.
Close enough to watch, but not to be seen.

He stalked her for weeks at a time.
Confusing obession with love.
He knew all about her famly and pastimes.
He figured she was sent from above.

Together they should be.
So he grabbed her one night
Her black bra was lacy.
But she put a fight.

She ran to to her mother,
Crying so hard she couldn't speak.
But he watched comsumed with anger,
for he had been betrayed by his lover.

He wanted revenge for her hurting him.
Planned it all out,
For this could not be done on a sloppy whim,
No it had to be perfect.

At school he trapped her in a closet.
Walked away with accelrant dripping.
At the end of the final hall,
He lit the match and walked away.

Standing in front of the school.
Calm, like everything was fine.
He was laughing loud like a fool,
Wishing he could watch her final moments too.
