It was a bright, summer day. The birds were signing, the wind was whirling and the sun was shining. I went walking that day in the forest with Ian, Sean and I. We had heard that there was an ancient artifact from the Aztecs that let us predict the future hidden underneath two feet of ground in this town. People said it was located in this forest behind the school, so we went searching for that item right here.
After searching for more than twenty minutes, we decided to give up. But as soon as I arrived at the entrance of the forest, Ian called us.
“Hey, Ian said. Come see what I found!”
We went to his location. After getting there, we looked at what he had in his hands. It was a gray orb with many little dots on it, fingerprints probably from alien life forms, a few key pads with numbers, and quite a few lights covered it all.
“Do you think this is the thing we were looking for?” I asked.
“Who knows? Sean answered. Try pressing a few buttons.”
As I was staring in Ian’s hands, I saw the orb starting to flash. He pressed four different digits: two, eight, seven, and one. Suddenly, the orb went so hot that Ian threw it on the ground and burnt some leaves as he did. The lights on the orb stopped flashing and the blue circle on the top threw a light into the sky.
“What’s happening?!” cried Ian.
The light came down at least seven feet into the air and formed a six feet wide circle. As we looked inside the blue, transparent circle, we saw men fighting with aliens.
“Well I got to see this!” screamed Sean.
“Fine, lets go, I said. But if anyone gets injured, we have to run back to the “time machine”, understand?”
We realized that this thing didn’t predict the future; it brought us into the future instead. We decided to go inside. And as soon as we did, some bulky humanoid creatures starting shooting at us.
“Take cover!” screamed one man.
“Grenade out!” cried another.
We all took cover, but Ian had this thing that froze him in place when he was too excited.
“What are you waiting for, kid?!” shouted a soldier.
It was too late. Ian was about to take cover, but as soon as he unfroze from his state, an alien shot his leg, and another shot his chest.
“IAN!!!” I shouted.
I took him in my arms and said goodbye. I brought him to the portal, but just as I was going to bring Ian’s body inside, the portal shut, leaving his head on one side and his body on the other, making his body bleed and bleed. I took cover again, wishing I was home.
“I think I figured it out, said Sean. We are now in the year 2871!”
“Yes, I agreed. We are in the future, that’s why we see men with big armor and aliens who try to attack us from all sides and do anything to kill us!”
We needed to find a way back. Without any portal to go back in time, we were hopeless. We decided to hide until this war was over. We waited about an hour. We survived with several bruises to the limbs due to the shrapnel from the alien grenades. We found a man and asked him anything about time machines and portals through time.
“Yeah, he said. I know someone who can help you. Go see Dr. Daniel Garner Jackman. He might help you. He built the second most powerful computer in the world.”
We were told the coordinates and we went there. We went to see the doctor and he told us that he can’t exactly bring us in time, but he can reverse what happened since we came. He said that it would erase our memories from the time we came found the portal.
“Whatever, I said. Anything that can take us out of this crazy nightmare!”
So that’s what we chose, to erase our memories from the moment we found that object. Strangely enough, it didn’t really work on me. I remembered quite few. Ian was back with us in perfect shape, and as soon as he found the time machine, I had an urge that this thing would lead us to a place that no human ever wants to go to.
“Let’s leave it alone, I said. Let’s go home.”
We came home. A few days later at the news, we heard that there was this rare raccoon that was last seen in the forest we had came from. The tracks leaded to the orb and no one could find where he was. They say the panel had the numbers 1611 shown on the thing. I hope he’s in for a big surprise![b:58e3f640d9][/b:58e3f640d9] |
