Language of Flowers
The language of flowers, also called floriography, was a Victorian-era means of communication in which romantics sent various flowers and floral arrangements as coded messages. During the 17th century, King Charles II brought the study from Persia to Sweden. Although the language is mostly forgotten, red roses still imply passionate, romantic love; pink roses lesser affection and white roses virtue, chastity and purity. In Japan, floriography is known as Hanakotoba.
