Easter Holiday Activities and Events
Traditionally, Easter has not only been a way to celebrate Christ's resurrection but also a day to celebrate the beginning of Spring. Because of this, the holiday has a large number of activities and events taking place.
Here are a few examples of the many Easter activities and events:
Easter Dinner
A big feast is a common way to celebrate the day. In areas where the three day and possibly four day weekend take place, it is a day of family gathering around the dinner table eating a traditional dish.
Egg Coloring
This dates back to Ancient Persians but is still celebrated across the world.
Egg Baskets
Gift baskets are a great way to get children excited about the day. Gifts may include money, candy, and small toys. The gifts are placed in an egg basket with fake grass and often placed inside fake eggs.
Egg Hunt
Easter Egg hunts are a great way to get children excited but also get them thinking critically and receive a bit of exercise outside. The eggs can be real with the winner receiving a gift or can be fake and include candy.
Egg Roll
Easter is full of competitions. This one sees who can roll their egg down a hill fastest. It has become an American tradition for the President to hold a massive egg rolling competition with souvenir eggs, sports, music, story telling, and lots of food.
Egg Tapping
This competition may seem silly at first, but it has gained traction in some areas which have opened sponsored tournaments. If you are wondering what egg tapping is, it's two people tapping eggs against one another's. Who's egg cracks first loses.
Spoon and Egg Race
This is another simple race for Easter. The racers simply put an egg on a spoon and try to carry it across the finish line first without dropping the egg. It's harder done than said.
